The Perfect Cheeseboard

With Australia Day around the corner, here’s a crowd-pleasing idea for your long weekend: a gourmet share board! The toasted walnuts are a must—they bring out their flavor and pair perfectly with aged pecorino.

Whatever your plans, I hope you enjoy time with friends and family. For me, it’s a bonus day off to soak up the sun with my boys and wrap up the summer holidays!

(Serves 2-8 as a starter / share plate)

Instructions
Build your board from left to right, layering items close enough to fill the gaps but avoiding overcrowding or overlap. Aim for a natural flow of colors and textures.

Fresh Elements:
1 punnet of colorful cherry tomatoes paired with fresh basil, olive tapenade, and 100g of prosciutto.

Washed grapes and sliced apple paired with toasted walnuts for a fresh crunch.

A quality wedge of Brie with a wedge of quince paste, served with lavosh sticks or fancy crackers (choose crackers that elevate the aesthetic).

Aged Pecorino slices paired with 80% dark chocolate squares for a sophisticated combination.

A soft, creamy Camembert (slice it while cold) served with a fig jam.

A flavorful blue cheese, like Castello Blue, paired with sliced pear and a small pot of honey for drizzling.

A fresh savory dip, such as eggplant salsa or Italian caponata.

Strawberries for a sweet touch.

Hummus with vegetable sticks for non-cheese lovers.

Crackers with unique flavors or textures (splurge on the ones that look fancy).

Additional seasonal fruits, nuts, or chocolates to suit your guests' preferences.

This cheeseboard is designed to be versatile, quick to assemble, and easy to source ingredients for. It offers a crowd-pleasing variety without being overly expensive.

Adjust quantities based on the number of people you're serving, and don't forget to provide serving knives for the cheeses and small spoons for spreads.

Enjoy your beautifully balanced, delicious cheeseboard!
